Parkinson’s disease affects about one million people in the United States and is the second most common neurodegenerative disease. Worldwide, it is estimated that four to six million people suffer from the condition. In the last fifty years, the National Parkinson’s Foundation has directed efforts and over $189 million towards lessening the economic burden of people with Parkinson’s disease and continuing research services. In providing aid and support to those diagnosed with Parkinson’s and their families, the National Parkinson’s Foundation truly provides comprehensive and holistic care, and is making a difference in the quest to find a cure.
